The best tennis rivalry in years blossomed a little more in the Wimbledon final, and even Roger Federer was happy about it. He answered the latest challenge from nemesis Rafael Nadal beautifully.
Federer matched Bjorn Borg’s modern record of five consecutive Wimbledon men’s titles Sunday, beating Nadal in the final for the second year in a row, 7-6 (7), 4-6, 7-6 (3), 2-6, 6-2.
‘He’s a fantastic player, and he’s going to be around for so much longer,’ Federer said. ‘So I’m happy every one I get now, before he takes them all. He’s improving so much.’ Read more

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal battled away for 3 hours 45 minutes on the Wimbledon centre court to see who could lay claim to the title of “King of Wimbledon”.
At the start of the match Federer got out to an early 3-0 lead only to see Rafa come storming back to eventually take the first set to a tie break. Even early in the match you could see this was going to be a slug fest and Nadal was looking good enough to steal the title. The first set was dramatically won by Federer 9-7 in the tie break.

Roger Federer’s second Wimbledon final against Rafael Nadal drew a TV audience about 10 percent larger than last year’s matchup did. The coverage of the men’s championship Sunday, won by Federer in five sets, drew a 3.2 overnight rating on NBC. That’s up from 2.9 in 2006, when Federer beat Nadal in four sets at the All England Club.
